Hello again SCARTies, for the last time ever from the OG founders😭😭
Over the last four weeks, we have managed to review a wide range of chemistry apps from addicting chemistry games to advanced chemical structure building apps – allowing us to build a solid rapport of the apps that are available on each software platform. It has been an enjoyable process witnessing over 650 of you joining the gang and visiting the SCART blog, and nursing our baby Instagram page to over 50 followers - something we are very proud of considering our short time-frame.
Generally from the apps we have reviewed we can say that chemistry content in all apps is generally really informative and accurate. With such a large number of apps available, we expected to see a lot of well functioning apps with aesthetic interface but this actually hasn't been the case. For this reason the apps we have reviewed tends to be the ones that we've been able to use with little difficulty.
There are so many gaps in the market for more chemistry apps that would help school pupils, students, researchers, lecturers and teachers. In the future we would be looking for apps that actually aid teachers in the teaching of chemistry rather than apps which simply supplement curricula and learning. We think that students and researchers would really benefit from a platform where timetabling and diaries crossover with instructions/content for their daily activities e.g a lab timetable built in with lab manuals.
This project is still very much in its infancy and we would love to see it grow and develop to reach a much bigger audience. We would love to thank everyone who has helped us but especially our project supervisor, Dr Charlie O'Hara (University of Strathclyde) for his invaluable guidance, feedback and optimism. Thanks also go to our lovely SCARTies for all of your views and support.
Sadly signing off for the last time, with lots and lots of love,
SCART x
